It was a pleasant surprise for me to be appointed Editor for the FRI Newsletter, especially when it was already planned to publish this current issue as a Special Edition to commemorate the New Millennium. What appears to be a big task for me was very much lightened for the groundwork and the draft of this issue was prepared by the Editorial Board under the able scrutiny of the previous Editors En. Ismail Ishak and En. Abu Talib Ahmad. For this, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to them.
I hope to be able to continue the good work and definitely I will need your continued support. Please submit as many articles, news briefs and research updates as possible so that more of us can share your knowledge, views and comments.
We strongly encourage you to send us letters and comments to help us improve the FRI Newsletter. We need you to keep the FRI Newsletter going.
The success of FRI, past and present, would not have been achieved without the dedication and commitment of our research team. With the same spirit possibly with added momentum, we aim to stride ahead in the various disciplines of fisheries and marine research to face the new challenges in the New Millennium and to make FRI the CENTRE OF FISHERIES RESEARCH.
