Marine Fisheries Resources Development and Management
Department, Chendering, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu.

The Centre was established in 1992 as the fourth department of SEAFDEC (Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center). Its main objective is to provide assistance to member countries of SEAFDEC for the development and management of the marine fishery resources in the waters of Southeast Asia.

Fisheries Research Institute Sarawak Branch, Bintawa,
Kuching, Sarawak.

The Branch was established in 1965 as a research division of the Marine Fisheries Department of Sarawak focusing on marine fishery resources and capture technology. In 1980, it was placed under the Fisheries Research Institute, Malaysia. Since then, it is known as the Fisheries Research Institute, Sarawak Branch.

. In tandem with the recent developments, new activities especially related to aquaculture and deep sea fisheries were included into its research programme.

National Prawn Fry Production and Research Centre,
Pulau Sayak, Kedah.


The Centre was established with financial and technical assistance from the Government of Japan in 1981. Its main role is to develop and refine hatchery technology of marine shrimp, freshwater prawn and finfish fry and their large scale production. The scope was recently expanded include marine finfishes and mollusc hatchery technology.
